Taking you beyond the page
Day 24 - A book that you wish more people would’ve read:
Laura Rider’s Masterpiece by Jane Hamilton is a charming, witty, original comedy of manners. Charlie develops an online crush on a public radio host and Charlie’s would-be novelist wife starts ghost-writing their correspondence. Life then follows art. This novel has nothing in common with the rest of Jane Hamilton’s celebrated oeuvre except that it’s exceptionally well written. It also offers clever send-ups of public radio and writing seminars. I heard this as an audiobook and enjoyed Alyssa Bresnahan’s intelligent delivery.
